New Delhi: An Air India plane bound for Kyiv to bring back Indians turned back after Ukraine closed its airspace on Thursday.
The Air India flight AI1947 turned back to Delhi after Ukraine issued a NOTAM, notice to airmen, closing its airspace to civilian flights.
A NOTAM is issued to alert aircraft crew of potential hazards along the route or at airports.
Flight AI1947 took off from Delhi around 7.30 am for Boryspil International Airport in Kyiv and was expected to arrive there in six hours.
Earlier, a special flight from Ukraine landed in Delhi with 182 Indians, including students, the second flight operated by Air India to bring back Indians. The first flight on February 22 brought back around 240 Indians.
