New Delhi: Airline operations in India and across multiple global regions were disrupted on Thursday morning due to an interim outage of the Navitaire airline technology platform, sources familiar with the situation told Hindustan Times.

The outage primarily affected operations in India, the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region and Europe, interrupting passenger check-in procedures and causing delays at key airports.

Impact on Airport Operations

* At Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI) in Delhi, check-in services were reportedly disrupted for several airlines, resulting in queues and slower processing at counters.

* There were also slight delays in departures observed at the Delhi airport as the issue played out.

An airport official confirmed that the Navitaire server was down between 6:45 am and 7:28 am on Thursday, affecting check-ins for carriers including Akasa Air, IndiGo, SpiceJet and Air India Express. The official added that services have now returned to normal.

About the Navitaire System

Navitaire is a digital passenger service system owned by Amadeus. The cloud-based platform — branded “New Skies” — is widely used by low-cost and hybrid airlines to manage reservations, ticketing, departure control, self-service check-ins, boarding and baggage tracking.

The outage highlights the reliance of many carriers on third-party technology systems for core operational processes.

In December 2025, another third-party system glitch disrupted airline check-in systems at airports, leading to flight delays and advisories from carriers, including Air India. That issue was fully resolved within hours.

In November 2025, a separate technical fault in the Automatic Message Switching System (AMSS) caused delays to more than 400 flights at IGIA, forcing air traffic controllers to prepare flight plans manually.
