Dehradun: A senior Airports Authority official was found dead under mysterious circumstances inside his official accommodation in Pantnagar of Uttarakhand’s Udham Singh Nagar district, police said on Tuesday.

The deceased has been identified as Ashish Chausali.

He was found hanging from a ceiling fan with a dupatta and was dressed like a woman in a maxi and was also wearing bindi, bangles and lipstick, Superintendent of Police (city), Udham Singh Nagar, Manoj Katyal told the media.

According to sources, Chausali had dinner with a friend and a relative before retiring to his room on Sunday night. They had planned a visit to a nearby orchard in the morning. But he did not respond to them in the morning, relatives and his colleagues in the neighbourhood had to force open his bedroom on Monday morning where they found him hanging. He was rushed to a hospital where doctors declared him dead.

The airport official hailed from the Pithoragarh district and worked as Assistant Manager, Air Traffic Control at the airport. His wife is a school teacher in Pithoragarh and the couple has a two-and-a-half-year-old daughter, Outlook reported quoting police sources.

Police are looking into his mobile phone records to conduct a cyber forensic probe. His relatives and colleagues are also being questioned. “We are not ruling out anything…,” Katyal told the Times of India.
