Mumbai: Bollywood diva Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful and versatile actresses in the industry.
Her journey from modelling to Bollywood, and then to Hollywood has been quite impressive.
After reigning Bollywood, Aishwarya was flooded with offers from Hollywood.
While the actress starred in a couple of Hollywood films, she turned down some big Hollywood projects because of her inhibitions.
One of the films which Ash rejected was Brad Pitt’s blockbuster ‘Mr & Mrs Smith.’
According to reports in The Telegraph and DNA India, “Aishwarya was offered the role of Jane Smith, a deadly assassin disguised as a tech support consultant, who is married to John Smith (Brad Pitt) in Doug Liam’s directorial.”
However, the actress turned down the film because of the intimate scenes in it.
Finally, the film landed in Angelina Jolie’s kitty and it left cash registers ringing at the box office by minting $487.3 million (approximately Rs 4,112 crore). ‘Mr & Mrs Smith’ was one of the highest-grossers of 2005, according to Box Office Mojo.
‘Troy’ was another Hollywood project which Aishwarya had rejected.
In an interview with The Indian Express, the actress shared, “When Troy was spoken about, forget on the script level, they were saying at least 6-9 months to lock off (the schedule) because it is a huge film. We were like, ‘Wow.’ But obviously, we have a way of looking at it like – this is your part…(expressing that her part was not big enough) to lock off that kind of time when I had films here (in India) I was committed to, I couldn’t get myself to kick that to the curb. You understand the impact of the cinema (Troy). It is exciting because these are huge offers.”
Meanwhile, Aishwarya has starred in Hollywood films like ‘The Pink Panther 2’, ‘Bride and Prejudice’ and ‘The Mistress of Spices.’
Aishwarya was last seen in Mani Ratnam’s ‘Ponniyin Selvan: II’.
