Bhubaneswar: Odisha boy Sutavya Karmakar claimed a double crown in the AITA-OTA Talent Series (TS7) tournament at the Kalinga Stadium Tennis Complex here on Saturday.
Sutavya outwitted West Bengal’s Syed Faizan Hussain 6-4, 7-5 in the Boys’ U-16 singles final.
Sutavya then teamed up with Faizan to defeat Anshuman Acharya and Suyash Patnaik, both from Odisha, by a convincing 6-2, 6-2 margin.
West Bengal’s Swapneel Ghosh lifted the Boys’ U-14 singles crown by seeing off Assam’s Chandra Mohanty 7-5, 6-0.
A total of 52 players from 5 states – Odisha, West Bengal, Jharkhand, Tripura and Assam – took part in the tournament which was organised by Odisha Tennis Association (OTA) with the support Odisha government’s Sports department.
OTA secretary Sanjeeb Panda and joint secretary Sambit Pattnaik distributed the trophies to the finalists.
The winners and losing finalists received 15 and 12 AITA ranking points, respectively.
