Bhubaneswar: Beneficiaries of Krushak Assistance for Livelihood and Income Augmentation (KALIA) scheme in Odisha are eligible to receive financial assistance of Rs 2,000 twice each year during the next three years on the occasions of Akshaya Tritiya and Nuakhai.
According to official sources, more than 40 lakh small and marginal farmers will be receiving the financial assistance on Tuesday on the occasion of Akshaya Tritiya and the amount will be credited to the bank accounts of the beneficiaries through DBT mode at 5 pm. A total of Rs 800 crore will be disbursed.
While the government had extended the scheme by three years in March, a proposal in this regard was approved at a meeting of the state Cabinet.
This scheme supports cultivators, small farmers and landless agricultural labourers and aims to reduce poverty and accelerate agricultural prosperity. The eligible farmers are entitled to get Rs 4,000 financial assistance per year in two instalments. While Rs 2,000 is provided for the Rabi crop, Rs 2,000 is given for the Kharif season crop.
