Mumbai: Maharashtra reported the biggest single-day spike since the coronavirus pandemic broke last year. As many as 31,855 fresh COVID-19 cases were reported in the state in the last 24 hours.
Even Mumbai hit a high, with 5,000 cases being recorded for the first time.
Of the 10 districts in the country which have most number of active coronavirus cases presently, nine are from Maharashtra. Mumbai apart, Nagpur district contributed 3,717 new cases in the latest surge of infection.
