Bhubaneswar: In view of the upsurge in COVID-19 cases in Odisha, the state government has decided to close all schools from April 19 until further orders.
However, online classes may be conducted wherever feasible, stated an order issued by the Special Relief Commissioner on Thursday. All hostels too shall remain closed from April 19 and no students shall be allowed to stay under any circumstances.
Physical, theory and practical classes and examinations in all higher educational
institutions under the control/superintendence/supervision of Odisha Government shall remain closed from the above mentioned date.
The order applies to all institutes under Skill Development and Technical Education department.
The government ordered that authorities of educational institutions have been asked to appropriate measures for conducting online classes to complete the syllabus.
The coaching institutions or organisations and individuals offering coaching services to students shall not run off-line.
On the other hand, the first Semester Winter 2020 exams of Diploma & PDIS courses scheduled from April 16 have been postponed considering the safety of students, stated an order of the State Council for Technical Education & Vocational Training.
Revised dates to be announced in due course of time, it added.
