All Schools In Odisha To Reopen Tomorrow, Regular Classes From June 22

Bhubaneswar: School and Mass Education Minister Nityananda Gond on Thursday said that the decision on reopening and timings of schools will be reviewed keeping in view the prevailing weather.

“We had earlier issued a direction to collectors to take a call on reopening of schools or change in timing for Class I to XII in all government, aided and private schools taking the weather conditions of their districts into consideration. Morning classes can be conducted from 6.30 am to 10.30 am if weather is favourable,” he told reporters.

The department in a notification later informed that all schools in the state will remain open from 6.30 am to 10.30 am on June 21 and operate normally from June 22.

Acting on the government order, Ganjam, Bhadrak, Bargarh, Sundargarh, Sonepur and Sambalpur districts had eralier announced closure of schools till June 20. Collectors of Khurda, Cuttack, Deogarh, Jagatsinghpur, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Rayagada, Cuttack, Koraput, Kandhamal, Malkangiri, Angul and Puri allowed schools to reopen on June 18 and run from 6.30 am to 10.30 am till June 20.

Similarly, schools in Nabarangpur, Kalahandi and Keonjhar reopened on June 18 with morning classes till June 22.

In Balasore and Kendrapada, schools reopened on June 19 with morning classes. The Nayagarh and Mayurbhanj administrations decided to hold morning classes from June 20 to 22.

The directive to the collectors was effective till June 20.

According to the India Meteorological Department, hot and humid weather is likely to persists in some districts till June 21. The day temperature is also expected to gradually fall by 2-3 degree Celsius during the next 3 days with southwest monsoon covering more parts of the state.
