Hyderabad: ‘Pushpa’ star Allu Arjun did not turn up for Naga Chaitanya starrer ‘Thandel’ pre-release event which he was scheduled to attend as a chief guest on Sunday, leaving fans disappointed.
The close-door event, held in Hyderabad, was scheduled to begin at 5 pm, got delayed by three hours because of Allu Arjun and began at around 8 pm, according to reports.
Fans kept waiting till 11 pm to watch the ‘Pushpa’ star live since there was a ban on public entry, but the actor didn’t turn up. Till afternoon, the team claimed that he would be there for the event.
Later, the actor’s father, filmmaker Allu Aravind informed that he was keeping unwell. “I didn’t get the chance to tell everyone this, I don’t want anyone to misunderstand. We thought Bunny would come, but he didn’t because he returned from abroad with severe gastritis, so he couldn’t be here.”
On Sunday, the ‘Thandel’ team took to X to announce that the press-release event will not be open for public.
“PLEASE NOTE: No public entry for today’s #ThandelJaathara. Enjoy the ICONIC EVENT from the comfort of your homes,” read the note.
“Pushpa Raj x Thandel Raju. Unfortunately, owing to certain reasons, Iconic Thandel Jaathara is a closed-door event. There is no permission for public entry to the event. Watch the event live on your screens and enjoy the event to the fullest.”

According to HT report, the filmmakers decided on for a closed-door event because of Allu Arjun’s ongoing legal issues in the stampede case.
Directed by Chandoo Mondeti and produced by Bunny Vasu under Geetha Arts and presented by Allu Aravind, ‘Thandel’ stars Naga Chaitanya and Sai Pallavi in lead roles.
The film, which is based on a real-life incident in which a Srikakulam fishermen accidentally drifted into Pakistani waters, will hit theatres on February 7.
