Amarda Road Airstrip In Odisha To Be Made Operational Soon: Minister
Bhubaneswar: Amarda Road airstrip in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district will be operationalised soon for which the state government has initiated special efforts.
Commerce and Transport Minister Bibhuti Bhusan Jena on Wednesday held elaborate discussions with Housing and Urban Development Minister Krusha Chandra Mohapatra regarding the airstrip.
Jena reviewed the progress of work and stressed on earliest completion of necessary formalities.
Besides, all round development of Jharsuguda Airport was also discussed in the presence of MLA Tankadhar Tripathy.
Amarda Road airstrip is a former wartime airfield located near Rasgovindpur in Mayurbhanj district.
Built in the 1940s, it has 11,000 feet concrete runway. The proposal to renovate the airstrip for future operations under UDAN Scheme will be realised soon and it will be developed as a commercial airport with acquisition of more land area and necessary infrastructure, Minister Jena said.
