Bhubaneswar: E-commerce giant Amazon committed a blunder by advertising ‘Sambalpuri from West Bengal’, sparking ire among Odias.
Film director Nila Madhab Panda pointed out the striking error on Twitter, and Amazon responded immediately. Another Twitter user noted that Amazon has corrected the same and has now mentioned “Sambalpuri from Odisha”.
Widely produced in Odisha’s Bargarh, Sonepur, Sambalpur, Balangir, and Boudh districts, traditional handwoven Sambalpuri saree got the Geographical Indication (GI) tag in 2010.
