Deogarh: A crew member of 108 ambulance has won appreciation after he donated blood to a 13-year-old boy suffering from sickle cell in Odisha’s Deogarh district.
Sources said the sickle cell patient, identified as Gobinda Mahakud, was undergoing treatment at the district headquarters hospital (DHH) in Deogarh.
As the condition of the patient deteriorated, the doctor advised his relatives to arrange blood immediately. Unable to find anyone with B+ blood group, the father of the patient approached the ambulance crew for help.
Thev108 ambulance pilot’s blood group was found to be same as that of the patient. The ambulance pilot, identified Amrit Singh, donated blood to the patient without any hesitation. This was for the fifth time that he donated blood to a patient.
