Amit Shah Flays BJD Govt At Keonjhar Rally

Keonjhar: BJP president Amit Shah on Friday kicked off his election campaign for the second-phase elections in Odisha by hitting out at the ruling party over the issue of corruption, unemployment and absence of doctors in government hospitals.

Addressing a rally here, Shah alleged that the BJD government has protected those involved in the mining and chit fund scam and refused to act against “babus” indulging in corrupt practices in the government.

“I want to ask what steps the BJD government has taken to punish those who have robbed the people of their hard earned money through the chit fund scam,” Shah said, appealing people to vote the BJP to power in the state.

He also raised the issue of migration and assured that his government will ensure no youth has to step out of Odisha in search of jobs.

The BJP president also highlighted the promise made by his party in the poll manifesto and said they will establish medical colleges in 14 districts of Odisha if voted to power and grant land rights to Adivasis under the Forest Rights Act.

Throughout his poll campaigns in Odisha, Shah has been critical of the ruling party and its 19-year rule in the State. Holding the government responsible for lack of development in Odisha, he said emphasis will be laid on the farm sector under the BJP dispensation. Every farmer, irrespective of whether they hold land or not, will get Rs 6,000 under the PM-Kisan scheme. Farmers, who eke out a living from forest produce, will get pension benefits on attaining 60 years of age, he added.
