New Delhi: Union Home minister Amit Shah held a meeting with Delhi Police and other officials to take stock of the law and order situation after protests by farmers turned violent.
Even as thousands of protesting farmers broke barricades and stormed the Red Fort not paying heed to the plea of farm leaders to exercise restraint, the authorities suspended the internet services in some parts of Delhi and closed the Metro stations as a precautionary measure.
Meanwhile, Punjab CM Amarinder Singh urged the farmers to vacate Delhi and return to the borders.
Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) also condemned the violence. Here is what the party wrote on its Twitter handle.
