Bhubaneswar: Union Home Minister Amit Shah is scheduled to undertake a day-long visit to Odisha on March 7 and participate in two official programmes.

According to sources, Shah will travel to Mundali in Cuttack district to attend the Raising Day celebrations at the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) campus. The event marks an important occasion for the CRPF, India’s largest central armed police force, which plays a pivotal role in maintaining law and order and combating insurgency across the country.

The Home Minister may review the anti-Naxal operations in the state amid the Centre’s intensified push to eradicate Left-Wing Extremism (LWE) by March 31. He is expected to assess coordination, preparedness, and deployment of central forces in the state, where most of the affected districts, including Boudh, Nuapada, Nabarangpur, Malkangiri and Koraput, have been declared Naxal-free.

Odisha, along with neighbouring states such as Chhattisgarh, has been a focal point in anti-Naxal efforts.

Shah is also expected to review implementation of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, the new criminal law introduced by the Centre to modernise and strengthen the criminal justice system, the sources added.
