Mumbai: Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s elder sister, Rajuben, breathed her last at a hospital here on Monday.
She was recuperating after undergoing lung transplant procedure a few months ago.
After the news of Rajuben’s demise, Shah cancelled all his public engagements, including two events in Gujarat.
Shah was scheduled to launch various projects and products of Banas Dairy in Deodar of Banaskantha district, followed by an address at a public event in the morning.
He was also due to attend another event at Rashtriya Raksha University in Gandhinagar.
Gujarat State Cooperative Bank Limited chairman Ajay Patel, who was among those present at the Banaskantha event, confirmed that Shah skipped the event because of his elder sister’s death.
