Hyderabad: Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister and chief of Janasena Party (JSP), Pawan Kalyan, declared the formation of ‘Narasimha Varahi Brigade’, a dedicated wing of his party that will protect ‘Sanatana Dharma’. The leader said those who would criticise Sanatana Dharma on social media or would disrespect it would have to face the consequences.
He made the announcement while inaugurating the ‘Deepam-2’ free cooking gas cylinder scheme in Jagannadhapuram village on Saturday.
This development comes after a row was triggered over the alleged use of adulterated ghee in the prasadam offered at the Sri Venkateswara Swamy Temple in Tirupati.
Last month, he had pitched for a robust national law to protect Sanatan Dharma. He also wanted a law to come up for preventing actions that disrespect the beliefs of the Sanatan Dharma.
He had also proposed the establishment of a Sanatan Dharma Protection Board at national and state levels to oversee the law’s implementation. According to reports, he had also called for dedicated funding for the activities of such a board.
He had also emphasised the need for Sanatana Dharma Certification to ensure purity in materials used for temple offerings. “There should be non-cooperation with those who defame or spread hatred against Sanatana Dharma,” he had said, as quoted by the ABP News.
The Janasena Party chief also highlighted his connection with the Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Temple in IS Jaganathapuram. He pledged Rs 4.5 crore for the development of the temple. He also promised an inquiry into unauthorised excavations near the temple site.
