Bhubaneswar: Jaladhar Sahu, president of BJD’s Dharmasala unit, is the latest addition to the recent exodus from the regional party, struggling to keep its flock together after the debacle in the twin polls in Odisha.
Sahu on Friday cited health reasons for abandoning the regional outfit led by Naveen Patnaik. He has reportedly has sent his resignation to Jajpur district BJD president.
However, there are indications that he might join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which dethroned the BJD in 2024 Assembly polls.
Speaking to the media, Sahu stated that he will take a decision on his political future after consultations with his supporters. He added that he would stick to his anti-Congress stand and the BJP could be his next destination.
Sahu has been in politics since 1978. He began as a student leader and held several important posts in the erstwhile Janata Party, Janata Dal and BJD.
It may be recalled that after the BJD was voted out of power in the last Assembly polls, several party leaders, including Rajya Sabha members Mamata Mohanta and Sujeet Kumar, have switched sides to BJP..
