Bhubaneswar: In less than a week, another instance of a Class X girl delivering a baby amid her High School Certificate (HSC) exam has been reported in Odisha.
The minor girl from Bari in Jajpur district delivered a baby girl in a hospital on Wednesday.
According to sources, she complained of abdominal pain while at home on Wednesday, following which her family rushed her to the hospital in Bari block. “The newborn was admitted to the paediatric ICU as her health condition was not good. The mother along with the baby was later shifted to the district headquarters hospital at Jajpur,” Additional District Medical Officer (ADMO), Jajpur, A K Sharma told the media.
Jajpur District Child Protection Officer (DCPO), Niranjan Kar, said that the Class X student had appeared for two papers of the matriculation examination and was supposed to write the mathematics paper on Thursday.
The other case
On Monday, a 15-year-old girl of a state-run residential school in Odisha’s Malkangiri district gave birth to a premature baby in the hostel hours after she appeared for her Class X English paper, prompting separate probes by police and district administration.
A later day, the headmaster of the institute was suspended.
The district administration of Malkangiri also disengaged hostel matron Suchitra Charchi with immediate effect and suspended an auxiliary nurse and midwife.
Police have also arrested the main accused in the case identified as Sushant Khil, a resident of Disariguda.
