Berhampur: For second consecutive day, a cow was critically injured as it chewed a crude bomb planted in the farm field for hunting wild boar in Ganjam district on Wednesday.
According to reports, the incident took place at Kukudakhandi under Sadar police limits of the district when a herd of cattle was grazing in a field. The explosive is suspected to have been kept hidden in some eatable items and the cow chewed it leading to its explosion.
In a similar incident in Kendupata village under Khallikote police limits on Tuesday, the jaw of a cow was blown away as the animal chewed a crude bomb.
The locals said planting the explosives to hunt wild boars, who often come to crop fields at this time of the year, is a regular practice in the area.
The two incidents in two days have led to resentment among the animal lovers who have demanded stringent action against the culprits.
