Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police has arrested another drug peddler and seized brown sugar from his possession on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar.
Following reliable information about the drug peddler, a team from Balianta police station conducted a raid on a place at Rang Bazar Bridge in Balianta near Bhubaneswar on Thursday.
The police apprehended the drug peddler and seized around 30 gram of brown sugar from his possession. They also seized a motorcycle and a mobile phone from him.
The accused has been identified as Bijay Kumar Mohapatra alias Babali of Nanda Sahi in Khurda town. During questioning, Bijay admitted that he has been selling brown sugar in Bhubaneswar and its surrounding areas.
The police arrested Bijay and later forwarded him to the court.
The Commissionerate Police had seized 30 gram of brown sugar and arrested three persons while they were going to sell it at FCI godown in Kudiary near Jatni on April 9.
It may be noted that the police have intensified their drive against transport and sale of drugs and intoxicating substances due to the ensuing dual elections in the state.
