Aska: After the arrest of a wanted inter-state criminal in Khallikote area of Odisha’s Ganjam district, police nabbed another history-sheeter near Charimail Chhak near Aska later on Wednesday night.
The injured criminal, Kalu Biswal alias Kalu, was admitted to the government hospital in Aska and later shifted to MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur after his condition deteriorated.
Talking to mediapersons on Thursday, Aska SDPO Subash Chandra Panda said Kalu has more than 10 cases of dacoity, loot, snatching, extortion and attempt to murder cases pending in Aska, Dharakot, Sorada, Badagada and Kabisuryanagar police stations.
“Acting on a tip-off that Kalu was on the way to Balipadar from Baliapali village, a joint team of Aska and Badagada police raided the area. Seeing the police, Kalu opened four rounds of fire on the police. He sustained bullet injuries in his right leg after police retaliated,” Panda said.
A numberless motorcycle, a Mauser and three live cartridges were seized from his possession.
