New Delhi: Once again a hit-and-run case involving a luxury car is making headlines. This time, four pedestrians—identified as labourers—died and two others on a two-wheeler sustained severe injuries after a speeding Mercedes car hit them near Sai temple on Rajpur Road in Dehradun on Wednesday, cops said.
Hit-and-run cases, particularly those involving high-end cars, have often been reported in India. For instance, last year, a series of such incidents occurred in Mumbai and Pune, besides other cities.
According to the police, the Mercedes car, involved in the Dehradun crash, had Chandigarh number plate. Reports claimed that it was being driven at high speed when it rammed into four labourers and a scooty. All four pedestrians died on the spot.
The two deceased were identified as Mansharam (30), and Ranjit (35), residents of Ayodhya in Uttar Pradesh, while the identities of two other deceased were yet to be ascertained, a Hindustan Times report claimed.
The two survivors – identified as Dhaniram, a native of Hardoi in Uttar Pradesh, and Mohammad Shakib from Sitamarhi in Bihar – are reportedly undergoing treatment at Government Doon Medical College.
