Bhubaneswar: Another house was allegedly looted from a house in an apartment in Chandaka area of Odisha capital on Sunday.
According to police sources, a software engineer along with his wife, living in the flat, had gone to his village to attend Nuakhai festival celebration with his family. When they returned on Saturday evening, they found gold and silver ornaments and cash looted from the almirah and the house totally ransacked.
On being informed, a team from Chandaka police station with a scientific team went to the apartment and started investigation. They have registered a case on the basis of a complaint filed by the engineer.
“We left for my village to attend Nuakhai celebration with my family on the morning of Ganesh Puja. When we returned in the evening yesterday, we found the lock of the front door broken. The entire house was ransacked. All the cupboards and almirahs in two bedrooms and living room were open and the things were lying scattered,” said the software engineer.
Though he could not say the exact value of the stolen items, he estimated it to be around Rs 20 lakh. He also said though there are CCTV cameras in the apartment, no footage from those could be found during the period of his absence.
In a similar incident two days back, the house of a scientist in the same apartment in Chandaka was also looted. The miscreants had taken away gold ornaments weighing round 50 gram while he had gone out.
