Another Low Pressure Likely Over Bay Of Bengal, Forecasts IMD

Bhubaneswar: Even as Odisha is yet to recover from flood caused by heavy rainfall under the influence of successive low pressure and depression recently, the IMD has forecast likely formation of another low pressure over Bay of Bengal.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD), in a release on Thursday, forecast that a cyclonic circulation/low pressure is likely to form over westcentral and adjoining northwest Bay of Bengal after September 5.

The monsoon trough that lies to the north of normal position would continue till September 5. It will shift southward thereafter with possible formation of a cyclonic circulation/low pressure area over westcentral and adjoining northwest Bay of Bengal, the IMD said.

Stating that weak monsoon condition will continue in the country till September 5, the IMD said the rainfall activity will pick up in northeast areas and subsequently central and north peninsular India will witness enhanced rainfall activities.

Meanwhile, the reginal centre of the IMD in Bhubaneswar has issued yellow warning for several districts till September 4. It has forecast that thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places in Malkangiri, Koraput,
Nawarangpur, Nuapada, Kalahandi, Sundargarh, Deogarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balangir, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda and Sonepur districts in next 24 hours.
