Bhubaneswar: A fresh cyclonic circulation is likely to form over north Bay of Bengal around September 18 and intensify into a low pressure in the subsequent 48 hours, the regional centre of India Meteorological Department (IMD) informed on Friday.
According to weather reports, the state will witness a few intense spells of rain (7 to 11 cm) on September 18 and 19. Very heavy downpour (7 to 20 cm) is expected across the state on September 20, it added.
The MeT had earlier forecast heavy rainfall for one or two places in Nuapada, Balangir Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Ganjam, Puri and Jagatsinghpur on September 18. During the subsequent 24 hours, Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Gajapati, Ganjam, Puri, Khurda, Cuttack and Jagatsinghpur may experience heavy rain, it added.
Yellow warning for thunderstorm and lightning has been sounded for Balasore, Bhadrak, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Khurda and Puri on September 16 and Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Sonepur, Balangir and Boudh on September 17.
