Bhubaneswar: Heavy to very heavy rain together with thunderstorm activity is likely to batter many parts of Odisha Odisha till July 3.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said that the low pressure area over north Odisha and adjoining Gangetic West Bengal has become less marked.
A fresh upper-air cyclonic circulation is likely to develop over north Bay of Bengal and adjoining coastal Bangladesh & West Bengal around June 29. Under its influence, anoher low-pressure area is likely to form over the same region during subsequent 24 hours.
Under its influence, the intensity of rainfall is likely to increase from June 30.
During the next 24 hours, heavy rain is likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, and Mayurbhanj, the weather agency said, while issuing a yellow warning for these districts
Similarly, thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph may occur at one or two places of Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, and Gajapati.
On June 28-29, heavy rain is likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Sundargarh, and Keonjhar where a yellow warning was issued.
Thunderstorm with lightning with gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph, heavy rainfall may occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati.
On June 29-30, yellow warning of heavy rain very was issued for Balasore, Bhadrak, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, and Sundargarh districts.
On June 30-July 1, the IMD issued an orange warning of heavy to very heavy rain for the districts of Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Jajpur.
Similarly, yellow warning was issued for the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Angul, Deogarh, Sambalpur, Sundargarh.
On July 1-2, orange warning of heavy to very heavy rain was issued for the districts of Nayagarh, Kandahamal, Kalahandi.
Yellow warning of heavy rain has been issued for the districts of Koraput, Nabarangpur, Bolangir, Sonepur, Boudh, Cuttack, Khurda, Gajapati, Ganjam, Nuapada, Rayagada, and Puri.
