Another Monkeypox Case: Nigerian Living In Delhi Tests Positive
New Delhi: A sixth monkeypox case has been detected in India.
This time, it’s a 35-year-old Nigerian man who lives in Delhi, and with no recent history of foreign travel, PTI reported quoting official sources.
The Nigerian national, who developed blisters and has been down with fever for five days, is admitted to the government-run LNJP Hospital, the nodal centre for treatment of the infection.
His samples were sent to Pune’s National Institute of Virology (NIV) in Pune. The report came out positive on Monday evening.
This is the second monkeypox-positive case in Delhi.
Two suspected monkeypox-infected persons, also of African origin, are learnt to be admitted to LNJP Hospital, and their results are awaited.
