Deogarh: In view of the prevailing heatwave conditions, the Deogarh administration has ordered the closure of all schools across the district till June 20, with classes now set to resume on June 22.
According to an official order issued by the District Education Office (D
EO), all schools from primary to Class X shall remain closed to protect students from extreme heat.
However, examinations scheduled during this period will continue as per the existing timetable.
The administration has advised conducting exams in the morning hours to avoid peak heat exposure. The order further directs all heads of educational institutions to ensure adequate availability of safe drinking water and implement necessary precautionary measures against heatwaves for both students and staff.
The move comes as a precautionary measure despite the state government’s earlier plan for schools across Odisha to reopen on June 18 following the extended summer break that began in late April due to soaring temperatures
Earlier, the Angul, Sundargarh and Ganjam administrations on Wednesday announced an extension of summer vacation for all government and private schools in the districts till June 20.
