Anti-liquor protest: Women clash with police, SDPO injured

Mayurbhanj: Hundreds of women clashed with police during an anti-liquor protest at Musamari village under Rasgobindpur police limits in Mayurbhanj district on Monday.

According to reports, the women went on a rampage destroying the liquor manufacturing unit. When police intervened, the agitators pelted them with stones. Some women also scuffled with police. SDPO Biren Nanda sustained head injury in this process.

Besides the SDPO, eight persons were injured in the clash. They were admitted to a local hospital for treatment.

The agitators alleged that they had requested the authorities to shift the manufacturing unit, but their pleas fell on deaf ears.
