Bhubaneswar: Actor-turned-politician Anubhav Mohanty on Thursday released a video titled ‘untold story’ in which he promised to spill the beans about the discord with his estranged wife Varsha Priyadarshini, but only if fans gave him the permission to do so.
Anubhav said this video was long pending, but he did not have the courage to record it.
“I have put in my blood, sweat and tears for whatever I have achieved till date. But one mistake has ruined my life. I faltered while choosing a life partner,” he said, adding, that he has no malice against anyone.
He spoke about how his parents struggled to provide him with a good life and the Rs 285 needed for insulin every fourth day after he was diagnosed a diabetic at the age of 17. “My mother mortgaged her jewellery while my father sacrificed a lot for us,” he said.
He talked about his journey in the world of glamour with modelling, albums and then his first Odia movie ‘I Love You’, which was released on January 11, 2004. “I owe my stardom to my fans,” he said.
The Kendrapada MP said he fell in love with Varsha in 2008 and loved her the most in the world. And after four years of courtship, they got married in 2014.
He said their families were initially against their marriage. “I was told that her family was not ready for the wedding though I got to know about a lot of other things later,” he said and sought the permission of the viewers to talk further on the issue.
“I had never seen a police station and a court in my life. I am going through this ordeal because of love,” he choked while saying.
Hinting at an alleged campaign to malign him, the actor questioned, “Why a man is always questioned while every word said by a woman is taken as the gospel of truth?”
The BJD MP also said the video can spell trouble for his political career.
Notably, he was excluded from BJD’s star campaigners’ list for the Brajrajnagar bypoll. BJD insiders feel Anubhav’s marital strife robbed him of his star campaigner tag with the party fearing backlash if he is at the forefront of the campaign and his name went missing from the list for Balasore Sadar, Tritol and Pipili bypolls.

Anubhav filed for divorce in the Patiala House Court in New Delhi in July 2020. This was revealed after Varsha filed a case of domestic violence at the Cuttack Sub-divisional Judicial Magistrate (SJDM) court on August 7, 2020, accusing the actor of torturing her physically and mentally.
