Bhubaneswar: Two days after the court’s mediation in the divorce proceedings, actor-turned-politician from Odisha Anubhav Mohanty on Friday shared an old audio clip on his official Twitter handle, asking his estranged wife Varsha Priyadarshini to issue a clarification on the telephonic conversation with her sisters.
“I have no intentions to hurt or tarnish your (Varsha) image. I respect you but I’m bound to tweet & ask you this question only after being harassed & humiliated several times by so many which is disturbing me, my entire family’s mental & physical health! Friendly tweet please, no offence,” he added.
Hello @VarshaPriyadar3, I’m being QUESTIONED by millions! Mostly by our film & political fraternities! Every single common man/woman wants a concrete assurance from ‘YOU’ that whether the voices in this audio clip are yours & your sisters’ or not!
YES/NO!?https://t.co/miUrM6Momo— Anubhav Mohanty (@AnubhavMohanty_) September 15, 2022
In 2020, Anubhav had written to Odisha DGP to investigate this audio clip, which he said seemed like a telephonic conversation between “my wife Varsha Priyadarshini, Bananee Sahu (Varsha’s eldest sister), Debjani Sahu Gouda (Varsha’s elder sister) and me”.
“The audio clip sounds as if a very deadly and criminal conspiracy is being planned against me and my family by Varsha and her family,” he had added.
On September 14, an in-camera mediation session was held in the chamber of family court judge Swagati Das from 2.30 pm to 4.15 pm. Earlier, the court had allowed Varsha’s plea for the recall of the closure order for recording her evidence subject to payment of a fine of Rs 5,000 since she had sought adjournments without giving evidence. Anubhav was also asked to deposit Rs 5,000 against amendments in his divorce petition regarding the place of marriage with Varsha. The marriage had taken place in Cuttack on February 8, 2014, but Anubhav had stated in his petition that it was solemnised in New Delhi.
The family court is hearing Anubhav’s divorce petition along with Varsha’s plea for restitution of her conjugal rights since April 5 last year.
