Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar Is Pakistan’s Caretaker PM; What Will Be His Role?

Islamabad: Senator Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar was on Saturday named Pakistan’s caretaker Prime Minister.

Outgoing Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Leader of Opposition Raja Riaz finalised his name after two rounds of deliberations, reported PTI.

Kakar, a lawmaker from Balochistan Awami Party (BAP), will lead a caretaker government in the cash-strapped country until fresh elections are held later this year.

PM Sharif recommended dissolution of the National Assembly on August 9, three days before the mandated term.

According to the provisions of Pakistan’s Constitution, the next general elections will have to be conducted within 90 days.
