Bhubaneswar: BJP MP Aparajita Sarangi returned to Bhubaneswar to a tumultuous welcome on Saturday after her five-nation tour as part of an all-party delegation. The delegation was one of seven such teams that travelled to 33 countries across the world to highlight India’s stand on terrorism and the reasons behind Operation Sindoor.

After being received by thousands of supporters at the airport and then travelling through the streets of the city in an open-top vehicle while waving the national flag, Aparajita spoke to the media and dismissed demands for a special session of Parliament by the Congress and other Opposition parties.

“There is no need for a special session of Parliament. The delegations that went around the world has 59 members, of which 51 were MPs from all political parties. There were only 20 BJP MPs among them. The others were from the JD(U), Congress, Trinamool Congress, CPI (M) and other parties. We all spoke in one voice on the subject. So, why is there a need for a special session of Parliament,” Aparajita said.

“During our trip, we spoke to politicians, women, youth, academia, media and community representatives. There was a lot of enthusiasm within the expatriate Indian communities in all countries. The main aim was to place India’s views on terrorism before the world. We were given patient hearings wherever we went. There were elaborate discussions on India’s policy of zero-tolerance to terrorism that is the ‘New Normal’ for us,” she added.

Aparajita said that India’s strikes during Operation Sindoor were precise, measured and non-escalatory in nature. She said that India struck nine terror facilities and 11 air bases in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

“We made it clear to everyone that we shall never forget the massacre of the 26 innocents in Pahalgam by terrorists. We shall never forgive those involved. What I liked the most was the fact that all the leaders from five political parties spoke in one voice on India’s behalf on foreign soil. We are all together on this issue and there is no need for any special session of Parliament,” the MP from Bhubaneswar said.
