San Francisco: Apple at its annual event launched the new lineup of four iPhone 12 series smartphones – iPhone 12, 12 Mini, 12 Pro and 12 Pro Max.

The iPhone 12 series prices in India will start at Rs 79,900 and that of the iPhone Mini will be Rs 69,900. It will go on sale from October 30 in India. Prebookings will start from October 16.

The iPhone 12 and Mini will be available in 64GB to 256GB storage options. The higher versions, iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone Pro Max will come in 128GB to 512GB storage options. It will start at Rs 1,19,900 and Rs 1,29,900, respectively.

What’s New?

First, the screen sizes have increased to 6.1 on the iPhone 12 Pro and 6.7 inches on the Max version. Apple has gone smaller with the Mini version to 5.1-inches.

Coming to new tech, all the phones in the series have 5G. Apple’s iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max have a new lidar sensor on the back. The edge-to-edge Super Retina XDR displays have a new Ceramic Shield front cover which claims to be the next thing in durability.

It runs on Apple’ A14 Bionic claimed to be the fastest chip in a smartphone.

Camera-wise, there’s dual-cameras with larger sensors at the rear. The iPhone 12 Pro Max has a 1/1.7” sensor (1.7 µm pixels) that is 47 per cent bigger than the 12 Pro and the older 11 Pro Max. The f/1.6 aperture also allows 87 per cent more light to reach the sensor. The Pro Max allows 2.5x zoom.
