Archana Nag & Farmers’ Issues To Rock Odisha Assembly During Winter Session
Bhubaneswar: The winter session of Odisha Assembly beginning on Thursday is likely to be stormy with opposition parties getting ready to raise burning issues like Archana Nag’s blackmailing racket and farmers’ plight to corner the BJD government.
The ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) on its part said that it is ready for discussion on any issue in the Assembly. “We are fully prepared for discussion on all important issues,” government Chief Whip Prashant Muduli said.
The main opposition BJP plans to target the government over farmers’ issues, mandi mismanagement, law and order situation and contractual employment.
After a meeting of the BJP Legislature party held ahead of the Assembly session, Opposition Chief Whip Mohan Majhi said that a host of burning issues to be raised by the party in the House were discussed among the legislators and a strategy was worked out.
He said the party members will raise Archana’s honeytrap racket and alleged police inaction in the scandal, farmers’ issue including mandi mismanagement and corruption in MGNREGA scheme.
The party would oppose the decision of allowing the members to attend the House proceedings through video conference, Majhi said.
Congress is also set to raise several issues including the sensational lady blackmailer case and problems being faced by the farmers.
The winter session, which commences on Thursday, will continue till December 31. As per schedule, the supplementary budget for the financial year 2022-23 will be presented before the House on the first day of the session.
