Kolkata: Arijit Singh is a celebrity by his own right.
The talented singer and music composer has decided to give back to society for the benefit of those whose love and adulation helped him attain fame.
The 36-year-old singer will build a hospital in Jangipur town, in West Bengal’s Murshidabad district at his own expense.
West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee has directed the state and district administration to help Arijit – who hails from Jiaganj in Murshidabad — in every possible way to build the hospital.
The CM mentioned Arijit’s plan during the administrative meeting of Malda and Murshidabad districts on Thursday.
“Arijit, the son of our soil, wants to do something for the village. He wants to build a hospital. I have given the documents to the district administration. He wants to build a hospital in Jangipur, Murshidabad. I will tell the administration to provide all the possible support to him,” Mamata said.
The CM also directed Jangipur MP Khalilur Rahman to assist Arijit in building the hospital.
“The state government has built a super speciality hospital in Jangipur. If Arijit builds the hospital, then it will further benefit people,” Mamata said.
