Mumbai: Bollywood actor Arjun Rampal’s girlfriend’s brother, Agisilaos Demetriades was arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) for possession of narcotic drugs in Goa on Saturday.
The NCB has now arrested the South African national for the third time.
“On the basis of specific information, Narcotics Control Bureau Mumbai and Sub Zone Goa seized small quantity of Hashish/Charas from the house of Demetriades Agisilaos, who is a South African National, from his rented accommodation at Span Suites and Villas located in Chopdem, Pernem in North Goa,” NCB zonal director Sameer Wankhede was quoted as saying by India Today.
The zonal director added that Demetriades Agisialaos was arrested for illicit possession of the recovered drug and was sent to judicial custody as ordered by the court.
It may be recalled that Demetriades Agisilaos had been arrested earlier in two more cases by NCB for the offences under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985. The South African was found to be linked to the drug peddlers involved in supplying drugs to late actor Sushant Singh Rajput through other accused arrested in the case.
Later, NCB arrested Demetriades in another case and was released on bail in December 2020.
Responding to the arrest, actor Arjun Rampal said in a statement, “I’m as shocked and taken aback as you are by this latest development today. It’s unfortunate that my name is being unnecessarily dragged in every publication though I have no association whatsoever.”
