Arrested BJP Leader Jayanarayan Mishra Shifted To AIIMS New Delhi
Cuttack: Arrested BJP leader Jayanarayan Mishra was shifted to All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, from SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack on Saturday.
Mishra is suffering from kidney-related ailment and had been undergoing treatment at the SCB since April 24. He was initially admitted to Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (VIMSAR) in Burla on April 22 after he complained of chest pain and then shifted to Cuttack after his condition deteriorated.
He was lodged in Sohela sub-jail following his arrest on March 15 in a murder case.
“The SCB authorities referred me to AIIMS New Delhi for advanced treatment. However, I was neither given any choice nor asked anything regarding it,” said Mishra, a few minutes before boarding Rajdhani Express to New Delhi.
Earlier, BJP MLAs had demanded that arrested party leader be shifted to AIIMS, New Delhi, for better treatment.
Raising the issue during zero hour, BJP leader Rabinarayan Naik said Mishra had earlier undergone treatment at AIIMS in New Delhi. “Since SCB has no specialists to treat him, we demand that he be shifted to New Delhi,” he said.
The saffron party leader was arrested for his alleged involvement in the firing case that had taken place at Banabira village of Bargarh district ahead of the Bijepur bypoll on February 22. A person was killed while labour minister Sushant Singh’s brother Subrat Singh sustained grievous injuries in the incident.
