New Delhi: Former Finance Minister Arun Jaitley is responding to treatment, the Vice President’s office notified after Venkaiah Naidu visited AIIMS on Saturday.
“The doctors informed the Vice President that Arun Jaitley is responding to treatment and his condition is stable,” the notification stated.
Jaitley, 66, is under observation in the ICU. He was admitted to the hospital on Friday morning after he complained of breathlessness and anxiety. He is likely to be kept under observation for the next 2 to 3 days, according to media reports.
In September 2014, Jaitley had undergone a bariatric surgery to reduce weight because of diabetes. This was followed by a renal transplant in May 2018. He did not contest the 2019 election due to ill health.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, MoS for Health Ashwini Choubey, BJP working president JP Nadda and LJD chief Sharad Yadav, senior Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad and yoga guru Ramdev visited the hospital to check on Jaitley’s condition.
