New Delhi: A day after a scary security breach in Parliament, as many as 15 Opposition MPs were suspended for disrupting House proceedings.

Fourteen of the suspended MPs were from Lok Sabha – 9 from Congress, 2 each from CPM and DMK, and 1 from CPI.

The suspended Lok Sabha MPs are — TN Prathapan, Hibi Eden, Dean Kuriakose, Jothi Mani, Ramya Haridas, Manickam Tagore, Kanimozhi, PR Natrajan, VK Shrikantam, Beni Bahan, K Subramanyam, SR Pratiban, S Venkateshan, Mohammed Javed.

Earlier in the day, Trinamool Congress MP Derek O’Brien was evicted from Rajya Sabha for the rest of this session following a face-off with Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar.

Opposition MPs moved into the well of the House, shouting slogans and demanding Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s reply to Wednesday’s Parliament intrusion after Dhankhar disallowed notices.

As Dhankhar condemned the “unruly behaviour” of MPs, O’Brien moved into the area in front of the Chair and flung his arms in the air.

O’Brien refused to leave the House despite being suspended and the matter has been sent to the House’s Privileges Committee.
