New Delhi: Veteran Bollywood actor Asha Parekh will be conferred with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award, India’s highest award in the field of cinema, this year.
Union Minister for Information & Broadcasting Anurag Thakur announced the news on Tuesday.
Parekh will be the 52nd recipient of the award.
Asha made her acting debut as an adult in Dil Deke Dekho (1959) opposite Shammi Kapoor. Before that, she did roles as a child artist in Maa (1952) and Baap Beti (1954). Among her notable films are Jab Pyar Kisi Se Hota Hai (1961), Teesri Manzil and Do Badan (1966), Kati Patang (1970), Caravan (1971), and Main Tulsi Tere Aangan Ki (1978).
