New Delhi: Ashwini Vaishnaw, Union Minister for Electronics and IT, will inaugurate five more National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT) Centres virtually on Thursday.
One of the new NIELIT centres has been set up at Odisha’s Balasore. The other centres to be launched are at Muzaffarpur (Bihar), Tirupati (Andhra Pradesh), Daman (Dadra & Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu) and Lunglei (Mizoram).
NIELIT, an Autonomous Scientific Society under Ministry of Electronics and IT (MeitY), has played a key role in digital skilling and empowerment. There are 56 NIELIT centres currently, over 750 accredited institutes and more than 9,000 facilitation centres.
Vaishnaw will also inaugurate the NIELIT Digital University (NDU) platform, designed to democratise access to high-quality digital education. NDU will offer specialised programmes in artificial intelligence (AI), cybersecurity, data science, semiconductors and allied technologies.
Thursday’s event will feature a panel discussion on ‘Role of AI in Digitisation of Education’. Over 1,500 participants, including NIELIT students from across India, academicians, and technology experts, will be in attendance.
There will be stalls showcasing NIELIT’s skilling initiatives and signing of MoUs with leading industry partners to strengthen industry-academia collaboration.
