Puri: A team of the technical core committee of Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) completed the inspection of Jagannath temple in Puri on Monday.
Talking to mediapersons, member of the ASI technical core committee Dr NC Pal said that the team inspected the sanctum sanctorum (garbha griha), Jagmohan, Nata Mandap, Bhoga Mandap and Rosa Ghara.
“As it was found that there is enough moisture inside the sanctum sanctorum, it will be removed with a special cleaning method. Besides, there will be chemical restoration inside the sanctum sanctorum that will not allow the moisture to set in,” Pal said.
He also said that the floors of the Rosa Ghara and Bhoga Mandap, the beams supporting the roof of Jagmohan and upper and lower roofs of Nata Mandap will be repaired. The repair work will be completed in eight days, he informed.
It may be mentioned that the ASI conducts a routine inspection and conducts repair and restoration work of the major structures of Jagannath temple during the Rath Yatra in the absence of devotees who, in normal years, throng the Gundicha temple for darshan of the Lords.
