Bargarh: A day after his suspension, ASI of Sohela Police Station, Banmali Kuanr, was arrested on Monday by the order of the by the Bargarh SP, Mukesh Kumar Bhamoo.
Reports said the police after arresting the ASI, produced him in the local court which remanded him to judicial custody.
Before producing the ASI in the court, the police had taken him and the victim to the hospital for medical examination.
The Bargarh SP had suspended the ASI on Sunday for allegedly raping a Class X girl student at Melchhamunda in Bargarh district.
The survivor’s father had lodged a complaint, alleging that the ASI, along with a local youth, Riku Nag, had kidnapped his daughter on February 8 and later raped her.
According to sources, the minor girl was kidnapped by Nag while she was returning from her tuition classes. He kept her in the house of the ASI with the latter’s permission. Later, the duo raped her. The minor girl managed to escape and narrated the ordeal to her parents, following which her father filed a complaint.
Acting on the complaint, police had registered a case and detained the ASI for interrogation.
