Bhubaneswar: Sprinter Jauna Murmu of Odisha qualified for the women’s 400-metre hurdles final in the ongoing Asian Games at Jakarta on Sunday morning.
She made it to the final clocking 59.20 seconds in the first heat of the qualifying round.
Jauna was inducted in the Indian athletics team for the Jakarta Asian Games after she broke the national record in Inter-State Athletics Championship in Guwahati on June 26 this year clocking 57.02 seconds which was inside the Asian Games qualifying mark of 57.52 seconds.
Jauna was among the six athletes involved in a doping scandal in 2011 for which she was suspended for two years.
In January 2017, she left the national camp following differences with national sprints coach Ranbir Singh Sidhu and trained on her own.
