Nagoya (Japan): The shooting range at the Aichi Prefectural General Shooting Gallery continued to bring good news for India.
Following two silver medals 24 hours earlier, the shooters earned two more silver and a bronze medal at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games 2026 on Monday.
It was a double-podium show by India as Asian Games debutant Himanshu Dhillon pipped former world champion Rudrankksh Patil by 0.1 point to win silver in the Men’s 10m Air Rifle final. Rudrankksh settled for bronze.
Earlier in the day, Himanshu and Rudrankksh teamed up with Parth Mane to grab silver in Men’s 10m Air Rifle team event.
For the second day running, gold eluded the Indians as they ran into superior Chinese rivals.
Olympic champion Sheng Lihao (254.2) finished well clear of his Indian opponents (Himanshu 252.4, Rudrankksh 252.3) to seal gold in individual event, while the Chinese team was also far superior to second-placed Indians.
Miffed Suchika Tariyal settles for bronze
Suchika Tariyal, who had assured herself of a medal on Sunday by making the semifinals of Women’s Traditional 60 kg event of Mixed Martial Arts (MMA), had to settle for bronze after losing a controversial bout to Singapore’s Hui Hoon Toon.
Despite seemingly dominating the bout, the judges declared the contest as a draw. But the Singaporean was adjudged winner on account of lesser body weight two fighters
Suchika, who cried inconsolably, levelled “corruption” charges after the loss.
“I feel that she had to win because the federation is from Singapore. Even if I had weighed a little less, the decision would have been against me. They put everything on the weight,” alleged Suchika.
“They thought about their country and not about a player. There is corruption everywhere; I have seen it here today,” Suchika told IANS.

Elsewhere, Indian women’s hockey team followed up its 19-0 rout of Uzbekistan with a 17-1 hammering of Indonesia on Monday.
The 22-year-old Deepika, who scored eight goals a day earlier, added three to her tally. Rutuja Dadaso Pisal and Navneet also netted thrice each. Sunelita Toppo, Lalremsiami and Sakshi Rana scored a brace each, while skipper Salima Tete and Ishika Chaudhary sounded the board once.
India, awaiting their first gold medal, are currently in 12th position with 4 silver and 2 bronze medals.
