Bhubaneswar: Twin City Commissionerate Police have arrested three persons for the alleged gangrape of a woman at a lodge in Bhubaneswar on September 10.
The accused have been identified as Chandan Kumar Hati alias Chandu (25), Prasanna Kumar Acharya (37) and Rajesh Kumar Das (32).
According to the complaint filed with the Mahila police, Chandan lured the survivor from her village by promising to introduce her to a music director and help her pursue a singing career. He along with his associate Prasanna then took to a lodge at Chandrasekharpur, where her drink was spiked. She was then confined to a room and sexually abused.
Rajesh was the caretaker of the lodge and he allegedly facilitated the crime by providing them a room.
The accused warned her against reporting the matter and sent her home. The woman, however, narrated her ordeal to her elder sister, who then lodged a police complaint. All three accused were apprehended from Jagatsinghpur district and admitted to their involvement in the incident during interrogation.
They were forwarded to court on Saturday.
Further investigation is underway to ascertain involvement of others in the crime, police added.
