Lahore: Former Pakistan prime minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan was reportedly injured after shots were fired at his container during Haqeeqi March at Wazirabad, according to Pakistan’s ARY News.
The incident occurred near Allahwala Chowk in Wazirabad town of Punjab while Imran Khan and his Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf cadre were marching towards Islamabad demanding snap elections.
According to reports, five persons, including Imran Khan and his bodyguard, were reportedly injured in the incident. He apparently received a bullet in his right leg. A bandage was seen on his right leg while being shifted to a bulletproof vehicle from the container he was riding at the time of the attack and taken to a hospital in Lahore.

Following the firing, there was a stampede during the march.
While Imran Khan’s condition is stated to be stable, ARY News quoting sources said that the alleged shooter has been detained and shifted to an unknown location by police.
A senior aide told AFP news agency: “This was an attempt to kill him, to assassinate him.”
